The bus HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) is a comprehensive equipment system installed on the bus to ensure the internal temperature, humidity and air quality. It provides a comfortable and healthy riding environment for passengers and drivers, and is also very important for driving safety. The coach air conditioning systems are one of the essential core systems of modern buses. Its design must take into account energy consumption, reliability and adaptability to complex working conditions (such as bumpy road conditions, frequent starts and stops, etc.).
1. Utilization of engine waste heat (common in fuel bus air conditioning unit)
Utilize the high-temperature waste heat in the engine coolant circulation. The heat is transferred to the air inside the bus through the heat exchanger, and then blown into the bus through the air duct.
2. Electric heater (common in electric bus air conditioning unit)
2.1 PTC ceramic heating: Directly energize the ceramic heating element to directly heat the air flowing through. Simple structure, fast response, but high energy consumption.
2.2 Heat pump type: Through the reverse cycle principle, heat is absorbed from the outside environment and heat is exchanged to the bus. High energy efficiency is the main development direction of efficient heating of electric vehicles. But it is relatively complex and costly.
Introducing fresh air, exhausting stale air, maintaining air circulation in the bus, and controlling air flow distribution. Usually divided into natural ventilation and forced ventilation.
The principle of the bus air conditioner unit is to absorb the heat inside the bus through the phase change of refrigerant (liquid and gaseous) and discharge it outside the bus. The main process is divided into four main steps: compression, condensation, throttling, and evaporation. After absorbing heat, the low-temperature and low-pressure gaseous refrigerant is sucked into the compressor again to start the next cycle.
According to the driving mode of the bus vehicle, it is divided into:
1. Engine driven bus aircon (fuel bus): The engine drives the compressor through a belt, and the refrigerant absorbs heat in the evaporator (lowers the temperature of the air flowing through the evaporator), and then releases heat through the condenser (dissipated by the engine or cooled by the air outside the bus), completing the cycle.
2. Electric drive bus aircon (pure electric bus): The electric compressor is powered by the onboard power battery to complete the above steps and circulate and cool down. It gets rid of the dependence on the engine, can still run when parked, and has lower noise. But the overall system is more complicated.
1.1 AC for traditional fuel buses: Relying on engine drive, simple structure, and fast response speed.
1.2 AC for pure electric buses: Mainly electric drive, complex but environmentally friendly.
1.3 Independent engine fuel bus AC: Set up an independent engine, specially used for fuel bus air conditioning unit, which can solve the problem of not being able to use air conditioning when parking.
2.1 Single cooling type: only has a cooling function;
2.2 Cooling and heating type: has cooling and heating at the same time;
2.3 Integrated electric bus air conditioner and battery thermal management system (BTMS): only suitable for electric buses, an integrated system, can cool down the battery and passengers of electric vehicles at the same time.
In order to ensure efficient, reliable and long-term operation of the bus HVAC system, regular maintenance is required:
1. Air filter: clean or replace regularly.
2. Condenser/evaporator: clean dust, catkins, oil stains, etc., on the fins.
3. Check refrigerant: check pressure and liquid level, and replenish or check for leaks if necessary.
4. Check belt (only fuel bus air conditioner unit): check the tension and wear of the compressor belt.
5. Check pipeline connections: check for leaks, looseness, and wear.
6. Check drain pipes: ensure that condensate is drained smoothly to avoid stagnant water breeding bacteria or flowing into the bus.
7. Check electrical connections: ensure that the wiring harness is connected reliably and without corrosion.
8. System operation test: regularly check whether the cooling, heating, and ventilation functions are normal and whether the noise is abnormal.
Usually, we provide an 18-month warranty from the date of shipment. If a part fails due to quality reasons during the warranty period, we will provide free spare parts. But you need to provide a video and fault description first so that the engineer can check it carefully! If you need to extend the warranty period, please contact us for detailed communication.
